Anh Minh performed a power quality assessment, recording typical issues of Electric Arc Furnaces (EAF) such as low cosφ, voltage fluctuation/flicker, harmonics, and phase unbalance, which increase failure risks and affect production line stability. From the operating data, we proposed an SVC system connected at the 13.8kV busbar, featuring a fast-control TCR configuration combined with harmonic filter capacitor branches totaling 26Mvar, calculated to avoid resonance and meet IEC standards/current regulations. The system integrates digital control-protection, HMI, and de-ionized water cooling, helping to stabilize voltage, reduce THD/flicker, and enhance EAF operational efficiency.
